Your Speech Pathologist

Gemma Naude

Master of Speech Pathology (The University of Melbourne)

I love what I do! Speech Pathology gives me the opportunity to meet and work with many new and wonderful people. I value a collaborative approach when working with my participants/clients and their support networks. Listening and respect are key to meeting my participants/clients needs when planning therapy sessions and goals.

It’s important to me that you don’t just feel like another number in a busy clinic - it is my goal to make sure your communication and/or swallowing needs are heard and met. I stand behind this assertion by:

  • being approachable (I welcome you being honest and open with me; I will not be offended if I need to adjust the way I deliver your therapy so that you get the best out of it).

  • being open to the learning process (I treat each new person as an individual and seek to learn how best to work with clients and their support networks who have more complex or specific needs).

  • being adaptable (I will always seek a new way of doing things to help my clients and participants overcome communication barriers, including those that society has put in place to limit them).

  • being genuine and caring (I believe this is the most important part of being human - I will care you for you as best I can).

  • being highly organised and professional (I take my role seriously and adhere to Speech Pathology Australia’s strict Code of Ethics).

  • being actively involved in professional development and further learning opportunities to ensure evidenced-based practice guides your individualised treatment program.

To ensure I am offering you my best, I take on a limited case load so there is time to answer your questions, work with you through any challenges, and to provide you with individual resources to consolidate what we worked on during our therapy sessions.

I look forward to working with you!
